This form is used to apply for a re-entry permit, refugee travel document, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) travel authorization document, advance parole travel document including parole into the U.S for humanitarian reasons. Parole allows a person who may be inadmissible or otherwise ineligible for admission the United States to be in the country for a temporary period, typically for humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.

Deferred action is an act to defer removal of an individual. Those who receive deferred action will not be removed from the United States for a specified period of time, unless the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) chooses to terminate the grant of deferred action.
